Mexican Art Auction

Morton’s Mexican Art Auction brings together 214 lots that celebrate the country’s cultural wealth through diverse artistic expressions. This edition highlights works that transfer the muralist spirit onto the easel, represented by Jorge González Camarena and Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin, as well as compositions by Carlos Mérida that showcase cultural diversity through regional attire. Still lifes, captured by artists such as Gustavo Montoya and Arturo Estrada, evoke Mexico’s culinary tradition, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The auction also presents a tribute to Luis Nishizawa, who integrated modernity, tradition, and Japanese influences into his work. In addition, it features pieces by masters such as Roberto Montenegro, Rafael Coronel, and Francisco Toledo, among others, whose proposals reveal the talent and passion of national art. This edition reaffirms the commitment to disseminating and preserving the artistic legacy that constitutes the living memory of Mexico.
